Play for Pieces

The “Play for Pieces” (P4P) program is a promotional program designed with the idea of getting beginner and low rated chess players to attend rated
USCF chess events.  A few of the expected benefits are as follows.

  • Provide quality tournament chess sets to young and beginning players at zero cost
  • Encourage new players/members to play in more rated events
  • Encourage more regular rated play for current USCF members
  • Help create a strong base of players in the U1200 range
    • Provides competitive games for beginners
    • Creates a pool from which a few players may decide to grow and improve
