Play
for Pieces
The “Play for Pieces” (P4P) program is a promotional program
designed with the idea of getting beginner and low rated chess players to
attend rated
USCF chess events. A few of the expected benefits are as
follows.
Overview - Players
- Any player rated U1200 or Unrated can enroll in the program at any “Play for Pieces” event at no cost.
- Players provide: Name, address, phone#, e-mail, and USCF membership #.
- Players receive a “punch card” with six punches. They received one punch for each rated “Play for Pieces” event that they participate in.
- “Play for Pieces” card needs to be provided to organizer at any “P4P” event that they participate in.
-
Once a participant receives all six punches, they will
receive a triple-weighted tournament plastic chess set, a tournament size vinyl
chess board,
and a chess bag to carry the pieces and
roll-up board.
- Once players enroll in the program they have 18months to complete the 6 event requirement.
-
Participants stay enrolled regardless of ratings
progression. (i.e. a 1100 rated player gets credit
for all “Play for Pieces” event they play in
, even if their rating improves beyond 1200) U1200 rating only required at time of
enrollment.
